Samsung posts record Q3 profit, expects a much tougher year to follow

Samsung posted its quarterly report for Q3 and again smashed its own record by reaching KRW65.46 trillion ($57.3 billion) in revenue and KRW17.57 trillion ($15.4 billion) in operating profit. New update starts hitting Sony Xperia XZ and X Performance

Sony has started pushing out a new update to its Xperia XZ and X Performance smartphones. Arriving as version 41.2.A.7.65, the update brings along Android security fixes for the month of September. There's currently no information on what other changes (if any) the update includes. The roll out is currently limited to a few regions, although it's expected to expand in the near future. alcatel Idol 4 Pro’s European launch has been delayed

The Windows 10-powered alcatel Idol 4 Pro smartphone was all set to go on sale in Europe on July 26 (today). But that's no longer the case as the launch has been delayed. A quick look at Microsoft's Germany and France websites reveals the device will now be available there July 31 onwards. The launch has been pushed further back for those in the UK - the region's official Microsoft website currently says the phone will be available there August 7 onwards. There's currently no information on exactly why the European launch for the handset has been pushed back, but let's hope...



Amazon fixed an Alexa flaw that allowed devices to eavesdrop

It has come to light that Amazon recently fixed a serious bug in Alxea that allowed devices powered by the voice assistant to secretly listen to users' conversation and even send a transcript of whatever it listens. Basically, after Alexa processes a command, it's supposed to stop listening until the user says a wakeup or hot word like "Echo" or "Alexa" again. However, it was discovered that it's possible to make Alexa listen indefinitely by taking advantage of its "Reprompt" feature (for complete details head to the links at the bottom). LG has launched a new smartphone called Candy in India. The phone is priced at INR 6999 ($98) and will be available starting September 1 across retail outlets. As you can tell from the price, the LG Candy is a budget Android smartphone. It features a 5.0-inch 720p IPS display with a 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front.
