As a fit guy and audiophile I wanted to find best Bluetooth Headsets at right price to enjoy listen music at my workouts.
So I decided to compare these three sport headphones Meizu ep51 vs Xiaomi mi sport vs Xiaomi sport mini to find best one!
Design and packages
Let’s start with Xiaomi Sport Basic YDLYEJ03LM as a newest one.
The Xiaomi YDLYEJ03LM Headphones arrived in a box that meets the following dimensions:
18 x 12 x 5 cm and have a weight of 0.120 kg, whereas inside you will find the following accessories:
1x Xiaomi YDLYEJ03LM Headphones
1x USB cable
5x Pair of pads
As for the design of the Xiaomi YDLYEJ03LM Headset, we can mention that they have a minimalist appearance and are presented in 2 versions: White with gold details and black with touches in olive green, being ideal for any occasion. They are build from polycarbonate (PC), which is why they are totally flexible and resistant. They also weigh only 13.6 grams
On the cable are located the independent number control buttons, the built-in microphone, and the Micro-USB charging port.
The second pair is Xiaomi Sport Earbuds Mini YDLYEJ02LM.
They are similar to YDLYEJ03LM but with hooks to attach behind the ear.
The ear hanger is applied soft and sluggish rebounding TPE rubber material what automatically fit with the ear whenever you wear it. Even with continues workouts for long time you wont feel any discomfort.
Package includes:
1x Xiaomi YDLYEJ03LM Headphones
1x USB cable
5x Pair of pads
1x Waterproof case
They come also with two color versions – White and Black one and and weighs a light 14.5 grams
The third one, we already Review Meizu EP-51 Bluetooth HiFi Music Sport In-ear Earbuds is a bit different.
Meizu’s EP51 earbuds are remarkably well-built and well-balanced. They could be difficult to discover, but they value tracking down.
The incredible design and style of the EP51 aren’t surprising. The same design and build quality of Meizu phones, and the headset carries on the tradition. For its cost point, it is well constructed, with aircraft-grade aluminum, and weighs a light 15 grams. It’s solid and seems to be slick, with subtle Meizu branding.
The red cable is Quite Terrific. The cable houses the independent number control buttons, the built-in microphone, and the Micro-USB charging port.
The aluminum ends of the earbuds house magnets what keep the earbuds locked alongside whenever stored or whenever worn about the neck to avoid them sliding and dropping to the ground.

Audio quality test
But now let’s test the audio quality.
I used same phone for all tests – Pocophone F1.
So lets start with the new Mi Sport Basic.
After pairing you can see that CBS audio codec is used.
If you don’t know that is CBS codec, it’s high quality codes which suppose to deliver near CD quality audio performance at lower transmit power.
You can read more about in WIKI’s SBC codec.
The second competitor – Mi Sport mini after pairing you can see that uses aptX audio codec!
It’s different type and also tries to deliver HI FI quality.
Again more about this audio codec you can read at WIKI’s aptX page.
The third one – Meizu EP51 also uses aptX audio codec!
Anyway I first started with bass test with at 50% phone’s volume level on Mi sport basic and I can assure you that I was impressed!
The sound has density and nice compression.
The second competitor – Mi Sport mini also has same performance!
When I tested The third one – Meizu EP51 I found it sounds little lower.
Probably because the impedance is only 16 ohms.
Bass test at 100% sound volume Xiaomi’s headsets are very loud and still no distortion.
Meizu EP 51 also doesn’t make distortion but again, the levels are lows.
The second and final test I made to check mids and highs frequencies responses.
So I played acoustic music.
Again at 50% volume level first.
I found that Mi sport Basic performs really great!
But somehow I hear it’s misses some details at mid-highs and highs.
On the other hand Mi sport mini has gear performance in same conditions!
Meuzi EP 51 also has great performance but again the levels are lows compared to Xiaomi’s ones.
At 100% sound level was the real view.
Mi sport basic reallly misses details at mid-highs and highs and has some distortions.
Mi sport mini is the real winner here with NO distortions and missing details!
Meizu EP51 also has good performance but again low levels and some distortions appeared.
I made few calls to check the sound quality of the mics and both Xiaomi have nice performance. The call quality on Meizu EP51 is mediocre — the company probably saved few money by including a low-quality microphone.
Conclusion
Meizu EP51 has magnets and this is really useful because you can easily remove from the ears and just clip around the neck without risk of drop them when you chat with friends in the gym.
In other hand Mi Sport mini has better attaching behind the ears so you can jogging, sprinting and do more active sports.
Mi sport basic has same in-ear attaching system but w/o magnet feature. This could bring risk of losing them if you remove from ears to chat 🙂 But also are cheapest of all three and have great battery and bass performance! But if you are looking for Xiaomi ydlyej03lm English version, unfortunately there isn’t one.
