Galaxy S6 Plus: Apple take Samsung back to the courtroom?

Apple and Samsung have a rivalry that books have been written about, but what few remember about the rivalry is that both companies are part of a love/hate relationship: that is, while neither wants to have anything to do with the other, it turns out that Apple needs Samsung to build its panels and manufacture its processor chips, and Samsung can always stand to make more money. Both companies inspire each other and their current device lineups bear witness to it. (more…)

Huawei working on smartphone with a display hole for the camera instead of a notch

According to a Korean media outlet, Huawei is working on a strange smartphone design that could potentially mean the end of a notch era. But don't get too excited, because what follows might be even worse. The design features a display cutout for the camera, only this time it's smaller and surrounded by screen on all sides. Instead of placing the front-facing snapper on the notch, the engineers want to put it away from the top bezel so they can squeeze a bit more display on the front and get rid of the notch. This concept might introduce an entirely new problem. For example, how...

Weekly poll results: iOS 12 – You feel the need, the need for speed

Last week we asked you what top 3 features in iOS 12 were you looking forward to. Unsurprisingly, Performance garnered twice as many votes as any other iOS 12 feature with 21% of you hoping for increased responsiveness from your iOS devices. It looks like early feedback is proving that Apple has indeed delivered. The first betas of iOS 12 clearly show improved performance, even with the expected inefficiencies that betas often contain. While Apple would never openly admit it, we're also hoping some bugs have been squashed behind the scenes too. For many of us, this makes iOS 12 a must...

OPPO steps on the UK market – release set for January 29

In the face of a highly saturated domestic market, Chinese phone manufacturers have turned their attention to markets overseas in order to sell their handsets. India has seen an influx of Chinese OEMs in recent time with companies this sort of as Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi and other presently dominating the domestic market. The push for much more market shares recently shifted to Europe in the face of the difficult economic terrain in the US, the world’s largest market. Attention is currently shifting to the UK as OPPO has reported that it will formally release its smartphones in the UK on January 29. The company made the announcement via its new formal Twitter handle what has just been developed. The manufacturer has Furthermore developed a new OPPO UK website what we believe will go live on the launch working day. Presently, the web only has the text “Coming soon” displayed on the landing page. We don’t know the smartphones the coming will release during its maiden voyage but there are speculations that the OPPO Discover X will be one of them as effectively as the RX17 Pro. The entry of OPPO, one of BBK’s subsidiary, into U is coming on the heels of Xiaomi’s recent debut in the UK market in the fourth quarter of last year. Huawei also recently made an entry into the UK market when an unsuccessful attempt to release the Mate 10 Pro in the US, a move that was scuttled by the US government citing security concerns. The UK and Europe yet remains a fertile ground and soon we might look at far more Chinese OEMs likely there. Source: link
