Apple patents a way to wirelessly transfer power between devices

Today, a patent was published at the USPTO from Apple that describes an interesting way to charge Apple devices. The patent describes a wireless charging coil that could transmit current bi-directionally. Thus, a theoretical iPad or MacBook with the same wireless could transfer a charge to an iPhone X or iPhone 8 with a depleted battery. We know that there is currently no such thing as an iPad or MacBook with induction coils for the purpose of wireless charging. However, should Apple put the idea into fruition, it could be an interesting last-alternative to charge a dead iPhone...



Virgin Mobile to offer Certified Pre-loved iPhone 7 and 7 Plus starting at $350

The Sprint MVNO has announced that it will begin offering certified pre-owned iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus handsets at $350 for a 32GB iPhone 7 or $350 for an iPhone 7 Plus, also with 32GB of storage. By comparison, a new iPhone 7 goes for $550 and a new iPhone 7 Plus starts at $670. These go on sale starting next month. Virgin Mobile already offers pre-owned iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, so the addition of iPhone 7 devices offers a water-resistant iPhone with stereo speakers for a lot less. Live image allegedly shows the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact

Earlier today Sony announced a press event for September 2 during IFA. It is there where the next flagship Xperia smartphone is expected to be unveiled. This is probably going to be called Xperia Z5, and it could be the first in the line to come with a fingerprint scanner. The leaked image you can see below is purportedly depicting the Xperia Z5 to the right of an iPhone 5s, while the Z5 Compact is said to be to the left of Apple's handset. (more…)

Samsung is reportedly working on a dual-core NPU for upcoming 7nm Exynos chipset

Industry officials are reporting that Samsung is working on a dual core NPU - an AI-specific co-processor - for the upcoming 7nm chipsets. It will have a dual core design and will offer a significant boost in AI tasks. Leakster Ice Universe claims that this NPU will be used in image processing for the camera on the Galaxy S10.
