State of Android update: Nougat gains, Lollipop still on top

Android Nougat has more than doubled its market share since last month – unfortunately, that still means it’s below 3% for v7.0 and v7.1 combined. The MWC saw many Nougat-powered devices, so expect v7.x to pick up speed thanks to affordable but capable devices like the Nokia 6, 5 and 3 and the Moto G5 and Plus.

Surprisingly, Marshmallow also gained ground, it went up from 30.7% to 31.3%. That goes to show that Androids are still being sold with the penultimate major version. Marshmallow is now within 1 percentage point of Lollipop, which remains the most popular release.
