Today, OPPO reported its new 10x hybrid optical zoom camera technology for handsets. The new technology is a follow-up to the 5x precision optical zoom it launched at MWC 2017.

The new 10x hybrid optical zoon uses 3 cameras instead of 2. It has added an ultra-wide digital camera to the main digital camera + telephoto lens dual camera option of the 5x precision optical zoom. The ultra-wide angle digital camera sits atop the ultra-clear main camera although the telephoto lens maintains its periscope-like setup. The new design provides a zoom range of 15.9mm to 159mm.

OPPO says it has moreover added optical picture stabilization to the ultra crisp main camera and the periscope telephoto digital camera. The company hasn’t said anything about the aperture of the cameras what is very major for the final output.
