Samsung’s flagships start getting August security patch

Samsung has started rolling out the latest security update to its flagship smartphones. Specifically, the August patch has begun hitting the Galaxy S7 edge smartphone. Arriving as version G935FXXU1DQH3, the update is currently rolling out to units in Mexico, but other regions should also get it sooner than later. It's worth mentioning that the Galaxy S7 edge may be the first Samsung flagship to get the August patch, but its definitely not the first Samsung smartphone to get it - the update has already been pushed out to the Galaxy J7 Prime. Google has sold around 1 million Pixel smartphones

Google doesn't officially disclose the number of units sold and in the case of the Pixel smartphones that's particularly irksome. However the company's Play Store gives us a pretty accurate estimate of how many Pixel and Pixel XL phones Google has sold. See Google's Play Store gives a range number for app installs and in the case of the Pixel Launcher app that number just passed from the threshold from the 500,000 - 1,000,000 to 1,000,000-5,000,000 meaning that Google has sold around 1 million Pixel smartphones since their launch some 8 months ago. The Pixel Launcher is exclusive...

AnTuTu reveals that Oppo R11s will have a new dual camera

The Oppo R11s has mostly managed to avoid the paparazzi but it slipped up by leaving its specs at AnTuTu. Here are some of the changes that this wide-screen upgrade will bring. For one, the screen switches to 1,080 x 2,160px resolution - the 18:9 version of 1080p. The screen diagonal should be somewhere between 5.8" and 6", though the benchmark can't tell us that. The camera is different too - it now has two 20MP sensors, instead of 20MP + 16MP (the latter being the color sensor). So we're due for an upgrade in photo resolution, but it will be interesting to see if (and how) the sensor...

New update starts hitting Nokia 2

A new update has started rolling out to the Nokia 2 smartphone. Currently hitting units in India, it's a security update that brings along Android patch for the month of April. There's currently no information on what other major changes (if any) are included in the update. Most other Nokia-branded smartphones from HMD have already received the April update, so it's good that the Nokia 2 has finally started getting it as well. Over the air roll outs usually happen in phases, so be patient if the notification hasn't popped up on your unit yet. Via
