Apple remains top Smartphone player in US in Q3, Motorola’s shipments double

According to a new report from market research firm Strategy Analytics, Apple retained the top spot in the US smartphone market in Q3, although both shipments and market share were down. While the shipments figure for the Cupertino-based company stood at 12 million (down from 13 million in the same quarter last year), market share was 30.4% (a drop of around 2%). Samsung also retained the second spot, but both shipments and market share were up - from 9.7 to 9.9 million, and 24.2% to 25.1%, respectively. LG, ZTE, and Motorola also held their rankings to round up the top...

Meizu patents under-display fingerprint scanner technology

Samsung said a fingerprint scanner could not be incorporated in its Galaxy S8 and Apple had no better luck so it had to ditch the authentication option completely with the iPhone X. All we have left is the Chinese giants to propel this trend forward, just like vivo did with the X20 Plus UD, announced in the beginning of 2018. Meizu is the next big company that joins the hype train of the in-screen fingerprint phones, filing a patent to SIPO, the State Intellectual Property Office of China. Qualcomm’s next high-end chip won’t be called Snapdragon 8150, new rumor says

Qualcomm is announcing its next top of the line mobile chipset at the Snapdragon Technology Summit which is taking place from December 4 to December 6. The three-day extravaganza is sure to focus a lot on 5G, with many announcements from carriers, phone makers, and laptop manufacturers expected. So far we've been operating on the theory that Qualcomm is ready to reshuffle its naming scheme for mobile SoCs once more - first we got S1/S2/S3/S4 and then the company jumped to the current 200/400/600/700/800 naming scheme, but a new chipset has shown up in benchmarks identifying as...

Case for Pixel 3 XL supports the notch rumors, has single camera hole on the back

There's mounting evidence that the Google Pixel 3 XL will have a notch on the front and will not have a dual camera on the back. The latest leak joins live photos (and more) and a screen protector. This time it's a render of a case that includes an image of the front as well. The good news is that the arrival of the notch is not the end of the front-firing stereo speakers. And it's not a particularly wide notch either (by the way, Android P natively supports notches). Early rumors suggest that the screen diagonal will be 6.2" (up from 6.0" in the 2 XL thanks to the notch). A Pixel 3...
