Sprint and T-Mobile in final stages of negotiation for a merger

Within the last couple of weeks or so, we've heard about rekindled talks between T-Mobile and Sprint regarding a possible merger. Today, a new report from Bloomberg claims people "familiar with the matter" say that the merger is likely to be publicly announced at the end of the month along with the quarterly financial reports. Both sides are performing the final due diligence (steps required for the legality of a transaction) to determine Sprint's valuation in the merger. According to these people, setting an exchange ratio is one of the last steps needed before moving forward. Both...

Xiaomi Black Shark Helo goes on sale early

Xiaomi's Black Shark Helo gaming phone was announced a week ago and the release date was supposed to be November 10, but it appears that the handset is arriving a bit early. A lot earlier, in fact. In a Weibo post, Lei Jun, Xiaomi's founder, announced that the official Mi online store will start selling the phone as early as today. The flash sale begins at 8PM local time and as far as we can tell from the post, it's the second one for today. Unfortunately, the 10GB version is still nowhere to be found and the store is offering the 8GB/128GB and the 6GB/128GB configurations only. The...

Right off the bat Xiaomi launched its Pocophone F1 to the global market and subsequently sold more than 68 thousand units in 5 minutes. Sony announced its first ever AMOLED smartphone in the Xperia XZ3 and LG unveiled the G7 Fit, G7 One and a Raspberry Rose G7 ThinQ. Meanwhile, Realme released its second smartphone, aptly named Realme 2 and finally the Huawei Mate 20 Lite went on pre-order...

New BlackBerry phone coming at IFA, likely the KEY2 LE

We wanted to like the BlackBerry KEY2, but it was priced too high to gain significant traction. TCL may have a fix for that - the manufacturer behind the BB brand has sent out "save the date" invites for an IFA event. It will be held on August 30 and while it offers no official details on what will be announced, there is only one rumored phone in our database - the BlackBerry KEY2 LE. The latest leak promises the same design and screen, so it's not a "mini", but a Lite version instead. The unique keyboard experience will continue to be the phone's main selling point. But the KEY2...

Apple wins $539 million in damages in court against Samsung

Seven years after the start of the industry's largest patent battle, Apple finally won $539 million in damages of the original $1 billion plea. Back in 2012, the iPhone maker won the case as the jury ruled out the full amount but Samsung argued it should pay only $28 million and went for a retrial. This Thursday, the federal court in San Jose, California decided only on damages over three Apple patents that Samsung infringed - the rounded corners of its phone, the rim that goes around the device's front panel and the grid alignment of the icons. In addition, two utility patents that...
