Kirin 985 chipset with increased experience to launch in H2 2019

Huawei, the bringing cameraphone vendor in China, launched its flagship Kirin 980 chipset a couple of months ago which competes against additional flagship processors — Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9820. Presently, it seems that the manufacturer is working on additional flagship chipset.

According to the news, the next chipset from Huawei — HiliSilicon Kirin 985 will be introduced in the second half of this year. As per the report from a Taiwan-based portal, the self-sufficiency rate of Kirin processors for this year will be increased to 60 percent.

The manufacturer is expected to significantly increase the production of the chipset in the second half of this year, which is based on TSMC‘s 7nm process. The China-based manufacturer is still relying on MediaTek and Qualcomm chipsets for a couple of of its mid-range gadgets but the manufacturer is currently reducing its reliance on other manufacturers likely forward.

Thus, the Chinese company is expected to accelerate the production of its low-end chipsets as nicely, along with the high-end chipsets. The next Huawei Kirin 985 chipset will be based on 7nm+ EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Light) tech. As said, the chipset will be released in the second half of the year as the successor of the Kirin 980.
