Huawei has sold one million Honor 9 units in the first 28 days of availability

Huawei's online-only sub-brand first announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 9, in China in mid-June. Then, towards the end of last month, it got officially introduced for Europe too. And now, just 28 days after sales of the Honor 9 have started, the CEO of the sub-brand has some exciting news to share - namely, that it's already managed to sell more than a million units. Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 “handheld” costs $1,600, has warm-swappable battery

Panasonic's Toughbook computers look more like suitcases than laptops - they are not pretty, they are not cheap, but they are so rugged that they are advertised for military use. A few years ago the company unveiled Toughpad tablets and now there's a phone. Well, the Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 isn't necessarily a phone, the press release calls it a "handheld". Either way it runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Panasonic's COMPASS 2.0 (Complete Android Security and Services), which enables flexible...

Apple’s HomePod sales fall short of targets

Apple's HomePod smart speaker is more speaker than smart. All early reviews praised its audio prowess but griped with its iPhone-reliance and many limitations. This plus the high asking price led to lower-than-expected sales from Apple's first speaker. Apple has reportedly even gone as far as to cut orders from one of its manufacturers. During the HomePod's first three months in the market it managed to claw itself a 10% stake of the sales, trailing behind Google's 14%. But it's undoubtedly Amazon that's dominating as the affordable Echo accounts for 73%. Still the HomePod is an...

Moto G4 Play will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in June

Of the three G4-branded phones it launched last year, Motorola has already updated the G4 and G4 Plus to Android 7.0 Nougat. The software rolled out in some markets last October, and made its way to the US in March. But what about the G4 Play? The cheapest and lowest-end G4 is still on Marshmallow, and you may have expected things to stay that way given its affordability. Software update expectations are generally low in that price bracket. Yet Motorola begs to differ. The Lenovo-owned company has confirmed to Android Authority that the G4 Play will indeed get its very own taste of...

Samsung is using ISOCELL camera sensors in Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+

Samsung has a habit of sourcing smartphone components from different brands to save itself from demand and supply issues. If you can remember, we reported earlier this year that Samsung has used two different camera sensors – ISOCELL and Sony IMX240 – in the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge, and we also showcased the difference between the image quality from both sensors.
