First look at apple’s completely redesigned retina macbook airApple is expected to soon launch a new version of the MacBook Air, a 12-inch model that’s supposed to be thinner than every previous MacBook Air and will sport a new design made possible by the adoption of Intel’s Core M processor, which doesn’t require fans for cooling. After an extensive report detailed some of the characteristics of the upcoming laptop, Chinese online publication iFanR has obtained images that seem to show the 12-inch MacBook Air next to existing MacBook Air and iPad Air models.

The images (available in the gallery below) do not show a fully working 12-inch MacBook Air, but they provide plenty of revealing details thanks to the comparison to existing Apple gear.

The 12-inch model is smaller than the 13-inch MacBook Air, and appears to be very thin, a feature that’s specifically highlighted in a picture showing its profile next to the slim iPad Air.

One other interesting detail about the 12-inch MacBook Air is its logo. Apparently, Apple is going to ditch the plastic translucent logo found on all its MacBook models, and replace it with a solid metal logo that’s similar to the one found on various iOS devices. French publication Nowhereelse has also obtained images that show the metal logo for the 12-inch MacBook Air.

Finally, AppleInsider notes the alleged 12-inch MacBook Air model features an “edge-to-edge cover glass with underlying black bezels, a design suggesting a laminated LCD arrangement indicative of Apple’s other Retina quality components.”
