Exclusive: Android 5.1.1 being tested on the Galaxy Note 4

Exclusive: android 5.1.1 being tested on the galaxy note 4Samsung took considerable time with the Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy Note 4, and by the time the update started rolling out, many had probably lost interest. But the release of Android 5.1 by Google gave everyone another update to start looking forward to, and once again, Samsung has been moving almost at a snail’s pace. The Android 5.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge has still not been released, though it’s supposed to be pretty close to going live.

Galaxy Note 4 owners might be worrying that the wait will be even longer for them going by how Samsung has treated the device until now. However, screenshots that we have received of the AnTuTu benchmark app running on a Galaxy Note 4 have revealed that Samsung has already started working on Android 5.1.1 for the Note 4. We have been told that this is one of the first releases of 5.1.1 on the device, though we’re not aware of any new features in this build over Android 5.0.

We have, however, heard that Samsung could be testing a 64-bit build on the Note 4, though it’s something you should take with a pinch of salt especially since it might not actually make it into the final update as only the Exynos model has 64-bit support (which lies dormant.) Furthermore, there is no telling when Android 5.1.1 for the Note 4 will go live – it could take a month or two, or it might just follow the 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S6 duo.
