Various laptop manufactures have been selling 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrid products. Such devices feature a detachable panel. A new patent filing by Dell displays that the company may started a new trend of laptops by launching a fresh 2-in-1 smartphone with two detachable displays.

In June, Dell had filed a patent for “Information Handling System with Multiple Detachable Displays with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent was approved on Jan. 3 by the U.S. authority. The patent filing shows a laptop gadget with 2 detachable screens that can be attached to a magnetic strip to the adjustable clamp of a keyboard. The 2 displays can be connected to the smartphone through screen ports.

What’s interesting about the product is that the two displays can be arranged to face the user, or one screen can face outwards at the audience for showing presentations. In the image higher than, the 2 displays can be seen placed besides each other. This arrangement will allow users with expanded panel arear. The contents of the 2 displays can be expanded or mirrored.

The 2 displays could be arranged with the keyboard base in between during transport. Having said that, a laptop with dual displays could be heavier than conventional 2-in-1 notebooks. The patent documents do not contain any reports on the size of the 2 displays.

Companies are famous for filing multiple design patents Therefore that they may perhaps release devices with fresh features in the future. Having said that, there are high possibilities that all the patent designs do not end up as real gadgets. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Dell will actually launch a laptop with 2 detachable displays in future.
