Samsung Galaxy A8 Star gets Wi-Fi certification

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has received Wi-Fi certification, suggesting an imminent launch. As per usual, the filing for a certificate (be it Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) doesn't reveal too much - in this case we see that the Galaxy A8 Star will have dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac and that it will launch on Android 8.0. The model number also reveals that it will come in dual SIM flavor - SM-G885DS. Verizon LG V20 gets new update, Galaxy S7 and LG G6 up next

Verizon has started pushing out a new update to LG V20 units on its network. Arriving as software version VS99518A, it brings the November security patch. Reports say the carrier is all set to push out new updates - presumably containing the November patch - to several other smartphones as well, including Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, LG G6, and Moto Z Play and Z2 Play. LG G4 Beat goes official with Snapdragon 615 SoC

LG took the wraps off the G4 Beat mid-range smartphone. Previously leaked as LG G4 S, the newcomer, as its name suggests, features the same design as the Korean giant’s flagship smartphone. Microsoft is working on a new smart speaker

According to a new report, Microsoft is working on a new smart speaker. The report says the company is collaborating with Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta on the project, which is still in its early stages. The speaker will be powered by Microsoft's own Cortana digital assistant. The report says the device features Snapdragon 212 SoC, which suggests it should be among the more affordable options in the market. Boost and Virgin Mobile will offer iPhone X starting November 10

Sprint's prepaid brands Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile have announced availability details for the Apple iPhone X. Pre-orders at Virgin begin November 3, with shipments beginning November 10 onwards. Boost, on the other hand, will start accepting iPhone X orders November 10. Both non-contract carriers are yet to reveal pricing details though.
