Even though the United States has taken strict measures against Huawei, Britain which is its ally has not. The British Parliament rejected a advised ban on Huawei’s tech and products. The committee had said back in July that “there are no technical grounds for excluding Huawei entirely from the UK’s 5G or another telecommunications networks”.
Now, reports say Boris Johnson is set to grant Huawei open to the UK’s 5G network. Initial so-called by Sunday Times, sources in the senior government and security services have said that the British government is moving forward with a decision to grant Huawei open to the “non-contentious” sections of the network.
There is not an explanation for what they meant by non-contentious parts of the network however few sources say this refers to parts of the network wherever if possible surveillance by the Chinese were to happen, the damage will be minimal.
The UK’s move may hurt its relationship with the US and may achievement in sanctions. However, others say that the decision to grant Huawei access could force Huawei’s competitors this sort of like Nokia and Ericsson to lower prices.
