Qualcomm announces support for Android Oreo (Go Edition)

Qualcomm has announced support for Google's new Android Oreo (Go Edition) platform. The company will be working alongside Google to improve the experience on these devices, many of which will have 1GB or less RAM. Qualcomm didn't really say anything about what it is doing in this partnership and merely listed off what Google has done with Android Oreo (Go Edition). Which, as we learned yesterday, involves having a streamlined version of the OS designed for low-end hardware with low RAM and storage space, lightweight version of Google apps, and a version of Play Store that highlights...

iPhone dummies pictured: 6.5″ iPhone 11 Plus and 6.1″ iPhone SE Plus

@VenyaGeskin1 is perhaps better known for his speculative renders, but this time around he is mixing it up with photos of iPhone dummy models. Specifically the 6.5" and 6.1" versions of the 2018 Apple phones. The phone in white is the top iPhone model - iPhone 11 Plus - you can tell by the dual camera on its back rather than by the notch on its front - all new iPhones will have notches. The black device is the budget 6.1" iPhone - iPhone SE Plus - though this one might be getting delayed. It will use an LCD panel, which is reportedly causing trouble, the other new iPhones will go...

LG V35 ThinQ quietly unveiled: a V30S with Snapdragon 845

The LG V35 ThinQ was just unveiled without much fanfare. It switches to the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, but other than that it is largely identical to the LG V30S ThinQ, which itself was mostly identical to the original LG V30 save for the upgrade to 6 GB of RAM. The V35 keeps the 6" FullVision OLED display with HDR10 support. The camera department saw some improvements, mostly by borrowing the dual 16 MP camera from the LG G7 ThinQ (the V30 had a 16 MP + 13 MP setup). Same for the selfie camera, which moves up from 5 MP to 8 MP. The main camera also borrows the Super Bright Camera mode...

First renders of Galaxy A8s show Samsung’s first display with a cutout

What follows are concept renders, based on rumors. However, they come from the same source that accurately predicted the Galaxy A9 (2018) design a month ahead of its announcement so they are probably worth the benefit of the doubt. The renders show Samsung's first smartphone with an Infinity-O display on the front. Samsung has said that the Galaxy A8s will have a camera cutout placed in the upper left corner of the display. Having the front camera (and likely the ambient light sensor as well) inside the display allows the top bezels to be virtually nonexistent. The renders show a slight...
