Last week I’ve got this Xiaomi Mi5s 3GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
Here is what is in the box:
The Mi5s is really well crafted device but lets see how it is next to Mi5 Pro

As you can see this baby has the latest Qualcomm 821.
It’s clocked on 2.15GHz which is the same as 820.
Luckily I have a peace of Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro (4GB RAM/ 128GB ROM).
So lets first compare the design of the both flagships.
The new Mi5s has metal back which doesn’t leave any fingerprints unlike Mi5 which has ceramic back.
In other side the “old” Mi5 has really great design.
Holding the phone in hand gives you some premium phone feeling.
Also it’s little thinner then Mi5s.
But every time I see great designed phones I’m thinking – why they used so expensive materials when everybody use a case and cant actually enjoy the design?
Anyway it’s up to everyone to have an opinion
So lets how the both phones performs.
They run latest MIUI 8 with Android 6.0.1.
As I already mentioned Mi5S has 3GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM vs Mi5 Pro 4GB/128GB.
I ran some benchmarks to check the performance.
And here is the results:
Also you can see my video running Antutu test here:
Antutu Mi5s: vs Mi5 Pro
Geekbench 4 Mi5s: vs Mi5 Pro
As you can from the test the both phones are almost identical.
Only the boot/reboot of Mi5 Pro is much slower.
But seriously, who will reboot these beasts often?
So the performance is almost the same, so lets test the cameras.
Mi5S has 12MPx Sony sensor and Mi5 Pro has 16MPx.
Check the images I made (Click on the pics for full image).
Xiaomi Mi5s vs Mi5 Pro full light
Xiaomi Mi5s vs Mi5 Pro flash light
Xiaomi Mi5s vs Mi5 Pro low light
As you again can see the are almost identical too!
Here is some selfies taken with Mi5s
The weather dint allow me to make some outside images. Sorry for that.
I test video quality too and for my surprise the video is great even in low light!
Now the battery test.
Again the both phones support Quick Charge 3.0 (QC 3.0).
So here is the charging test from Mi5S:
22:18 – 0 – 30% – 17min
22:35 – 0 – 50% – 27min (lol)
22:45 – 0 – 75% – 45min
23:03 – 0 – 90% – 1h
23:18 – 0 – 100% – 1h 27min
23:45 – 100
50% for 27min for 3100mAh is really impressed!
About battery life – I used the phone for 2 days and it still has 15% battery.
Now is the time for audio tests.
I played different types of music trough air-speaker and with headphones on both phones and they perform really nice.
I cant decide which phone is better.
Mi5s lack of infrared sensor but has metal back.
Mi5 Pro is lighter but it’s fragile.
So I leave you to dice which one do you want.
Both phone are great!
