vivo X7 and X7 Plus with Snapdragon 652 and 4GB RAM are now official

vivo X7 3vivo has officially unveiled the oft-leaked and intensely teased X7 and X7 Plus smartphones. The two models share plenty of components, but there’s a few notable differences as well.

Starting with the common hardware, both flavors of the X7 are powered by the same Snapdragon 652 chipset (our favorite Qualcomm 600 series SoC, if there is one), there are 4GB of RAM on board and internal storage is roomy at 64GB. The smaller vivo X7 comes with a 5.2-inch display, while the X7 Plus is the phablet of the pair, with a 5.7-inch diagonal. Both are FullHD Super AMOLEDs.

Back to similarities, the X7 and X7 Plus both come with a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The primary shooters are different though, the X7 gets a 13MP f/2.2 unit, while the X7 Plus is treated to a 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor. Both have phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. (more…)

Samsung Galaxy Note7 cases confirm it will have a curved display

note7Less then 24 hours ago a new rumor claimed to shed some light on certain details regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note7 – namely that it will be outed on August 2 (something we’ve heard before), and that it will sport a 3,600 mAh battery. But what about its screen?

So far we’ve had a lot of reports saying that Samsung opted to go with a dual-edge display for the Note7. Then again, there were some other humblings telling us that wouldn’t be the case. So what to believe?

Well, if the renders showing these newly outed cases for the phone are any indication, then it looks like the Note7 will indeed come with a curved display. The cases in question have been listed by a well-known UK-based mobile accessory retailer, and they’re made by a brand that’s got a full line of such products for most handsets out there. (more…)

On August 2 Samsung Galaxy Note7 will be revealed

Galaxy-Note5_back-with-spen_Silver-TitaniumThe next in the line of Galaxy Notes, be it Note7 or Note6, will be announced on August 2, a leaked poster for an upcoming Unpacked event reveals. The date bodes well with previous intel, courtesy of @evleaks, which came out on June 2 and indicated a two-month ETA.

The Notes have been coming sooner each year. Going back three generations, the Note 3 was announced on September 25, 2013, the Note 4 showed up on September 3 next year, and the Note5 arrived even earlier, on August 13 last year. So if we are to extrapolate, August 2 makes perfect sense for the Note7.

The other interesting point is that the poster explicitly states that it an edge model we’re expecting on August 2. There’s an ongoing speculation whether there’ll be a sole dual-edged Note7, already confirmed, or there will be a both a curved and a flat version. Well, a month and a half and we’ll know for a fact.

No Android N for Samsung Galaxy Note7 at launch

Galaxy Note7The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (which is what the much anticipated Note6 is apparently going to end up being called) has been in the news a lot lately, and that’s to be expected considering the fact that it should be out in less than two months.

Just today we’ve had a confirmation of sorts regarding the Note7 name, and now a prototype has seemingly been caught browsing the web. And this has revealed the fact that Samsung is currently testing Note7 units running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and not Android N.

Samsung Galaxy Note 6 (or 7) to launch early in August

According to the usually reliable leakster @evleaks, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 6 (or Note7 according to recent reports) smartphone is expected to be launched in the first week of August.

Going by his words – “almost exactly two months away” – and the date of his tweet, we can say that @evleaks is pointing to an August 2 or August 3 launch for the phablet. That’s a bit earlier than the “week of August 15” launch time-frame he had earlier shared.

The phone has been the subject of several rumors so far, with the latest one saying that the device will feature a dual main camera setup.
