Oppo R9 successor ‘R9S’ is coming later this year

Oppo R9 1OPPO R9 is doing very well for the company, selling over 7 million units of the device in a few months of launch. However, it looks like this best selling model will soon see a successor, as Taiwanese media reports indicate that OPPO is preparing to launch the OPPO R9S which should succeed the R9 later this year.

It is said that Qualcomm has bagged the rights to supply processors for the OPPO R9S model. The chipmaker is said to start shipping the chipset in August this year, which means the official launch of the new model is just a few months away. The company is also said to continue with the same design philosophy that worked wonders with the R9, i.e. a thin metal body design. However, since Qualcomm has reportedly got the chipset rights for the R9S, it would be interesting to see which chip is used inside this new device. (more…)

Oppo A37 with Snapdragon 410 and 8MP/5MP camera duo for $199

Oppo A37Oppo has announced a new entrant in its budget-minded A-series. The Oppo A37 will be priced around the $199 mark, with specific numbers varying by market, and has all the basics covered.

The A37 sports a 5-inch 720p IPS LCD, and despite its position in the company lineup, it still has 2.5D curved edges and a layer of Gorilla Glass 4 on top.

The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset, there’s 2GB of RAM on board and internal storage is 16GB. It may not be much, but storage can be expanded by up to 128GB via microSD and the best part is that there’s a dedicated slot for the purpose – Oppo has fitted a triple-card slot so you can have a couple of nanoSIMs and a microSD card inside all at the same time.

Leaks reveals FC Barcelona Edition of the Oppo F1 Plus

Oppo F1 PlusOppo’s partnership with Spanish football club Barcelona is a few days away from entering its second year. In 2015 it gave us the Oppo R7 Plus FC Barcelona edition, and today we hear that the Oppo F1 Plus (or Oppo R9 as it’s known on its home market in China) will get the same treatment.

Whether it will be marketed as R9 or F1 Plus (after all it should be available globally, so the latter might make more sense), the limited edition will be available in red or gray color schemes, a new leak reveals. On top of the exclusive paint jobs, the club’s logo and an inscription on the back will tell onlookers that it’s not just a regular F1 Plus.

Which is exactly what it’s going to be on the inside, at least if last year’s practice continues into 2016. The Oppo F1 Plus has a metal build, 5.5-inch FullHD AMOLED display, Helio P10 chipset and 13MP/16MP camera duo (higher-res selfie shooter, yes). (more…)
