Latest leak of Moto G (4th gen) shows fingerprint reader on the front

Moto G (4th gen)Earlier this year we got a blurry look at the 2016 edition of the Moto G and it took this long to get a clearer view of the upcoming mid-ranger. You can clearly see the fingerprint that Lenovo SVP Chen Xudong promised.

The fingerprint is square-shaped and positioned on the front, it’s not entirely clear if it works as a button or not. The official word from Lenovo is that all Moto-branded phones will have fingerprint readers and we saw the outline of one in a “Moto G4 Plus” leak, so perhaps were in for a more diversified lineup this year (instead of just the E/G/X trio).

Anyway, the camera on the back retains the vertical strip design. We don’t have much to go on specs-wise, but the two dots above the camera could be a Laser autofocus setup. (more…)

Android 6.0 coming to Moto E (2nd gen) after all

Moto X Play 3Back in October this year, when Motorola announced the list of devices that will be getting the Marshmallow update, there was no mention of the second-gen Moto E smartphone. This was quite strange, given that the handset was released this year only.

The good news is that the device has now been added to the list, which means it will be updated to Android 6.0 after all. However, the update will only roll out in select regions including Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia (excluding China). (more…)

SD 615-powered Moto G Turbo Edition unveiled in Mexico

Moto G 2Motorola has updated its Moto G lineup with a new smartphone. Dubbed Moto G Turbo Edition, the device was unveiled in Mexico, and will go on sale there next week (November 13) for $283.

Specs-wise, the handset is powered by a Snapdragon 615 chipset with octa-core CPU and Adreno 405 GPU, and sports a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage, and packs in a 2470mAh battery. (more…)

Moto X Force pre-orders start in the UK

Moto X ForceThe Moto X Force got official as the international version of Verizon’s Droid Turbo 2 last week, and now it’s already up for pre-order at several retailers in the UK.

You can pre-order the Moto X Force in SIM-free and unlocked form from Handtec for £497.99, Clove for £499, Expansys for £499.99, or Carphone Warehouse for £529.99.

If you want to get the phone on an operator contract, Carphone Warehouse is the only option for now. The Moto X Force is free on Pay monthly plans starting at £37.50 per month. That cheapest choice is at O2, and it delivers unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 1 GB of 4G data each month. (more…)

Moto X Style will launch in India on October 8 according to new teaser

Moto X Style s6Of the duo of Moto X smartphones announced this year by Motorola, the Moto X Play is already available in India. On the other hand, the high-end Moto X Style isn’t yet, but that may change very soon.

Motorola started teasing the launch of the Moto X Style in the subcontinent last week, and now it looks like we have an actual date to speak of.
