HTC U Ultra with Snapdragon 821, 5.7″ QHD display

HTC U UltraHTC just announced the U Ultra smartphone at a keynote filled with U puns. The personal touch is all over the place, with a brand new Sense Companion assistant taking center stage.

But before we try to make some sense out of this Sense Companion, let’s cover the best bit about the U Ultra – it’s covered in Sapphire glass. What Apple tried and couldn’t achieve (out of yield constraints, admittedly), HTC has done on its new flagship. HTC 10 evo known as HTC Bolt is now official

htc-boltAs promised, HTC held an event in Taiwan today and just like most rumors suggested, it was the stage for the international release of the HTC Bolt.

On the international scene, the device will use the HTC 10 evo moniker. Other than that, nothing appears to have changed on the handset. You get a metal unibody phone, measuring 153.6 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and weighing in at 174 grams. It is equipped with a 5.5-inch, QHD, Super LCD 3 panel, with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on top. (more…)

HTC Desire 630 is already in India

HTC Desire 630HTC has launched the new Desire 630 in India. The phone is now available offline as well as through HTC’s online store for INR 14,990 ($222).

The Desire 630 was announced back at MWC and is HTC’s budget smartphone. It packs a modest 5.0-inch 720p LCD, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, HTC BoomSound with Hi-Res Audio, 2200mAh battery, and Android 6.0.

HTC 10 and One X9 launched in India

HTC 10 5As scheduled, HTC has officially announced its newest flagship smartphone, the 10, in India. The device carries a price tag of INR 52,990, which translates into around $790.

While HTC has already cleared the air on this, it’s still worth mentioning that the it’s the same global variant – which is powered by Snapdragon 820 and has 4GB of RAM – that has been launched in India.

For the uninitiated, after the device was officially unveiled by HTC early last month, there were reports that some regions – including India – will get a downgraded variant (dubbed HTC 10 Lifestyle) instead. (more…)

Marshmallow update for HTC Desire 820 running now

Desire 820HTC’s Desire 820 smartphone from 2014 has started receiving the Marshmallow update. The update brings Android version 6.0.1 as well as the version 7.0 of the Taiwanese company’s Sense UI. It’s, however, currently not clear exactly which regions are getting the update.

Software updates, as you might already know, are usually rolled out in phases, so it may take time before the OTA notification pops up on your device. Meanwhile, if you’re feeling impatient, you can manually check for the update by heading to your handset’s Settings menu.
